Irish Coffee

“Add whiskey, sugar, and whipped cream to take your coffee to the next level. The whiskey adds a kick to the coffee, and the whipped cream balances out the flavors, making it a delicious treat in the northern hemisphere during cold months. This drink has been around for over 100 years and will not disappear soon as it combines two favorites: coffee and whiskey!”, mentions whiskey expert Neil Coleman.

- 1 cup hot brewed coffee
- 1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar

- Preheat a glass mug with hot water and let it sit for a minute.
- Pour out the hot water and add the brown sugar to the mug.
- Pour in the hot coffee and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Irish Mule

This recipe has several iterations, such as the Moscow Mule or the Mexican Mule (my favorite), and the Irish Mule, among many others.
Learn to make it and then change liquor until you find the one that suits your taste best.
The copper mug looks pretty cool but is unnecessary as you can use a regular Tumbler.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Irish whiskey
- 3 oz ginger beer
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- Ice
- Lime wedge (for garnish)
Preparation Method:
- Fill a copper mug or glass with ice
- Add the Irish whiskey and lime juice, then top with ginger beer
- Stir gently to combine and garnish with a lime wedge
- Enjoy!
Recommended whiskey: Jameson

But you can get it done with Irish Whiskey or bourbon and see which you like.

Black and Tan Cocktail
This is a website about whiskey, but I’ll throw a bone at beer lovers.
The Black and Tan are quite easy to make and something you could see me drinking if I liked beer!
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of pale ale
- 1 can of stout beer
Preparation method:
- Choose a glass with a wide mouth and pour halfway with the pale ale.
- Open the can of stout beer and slowly pour it SLOWLY over the back of a spoon into the glass. This will help to layer the stout on top of the pale ale.
- Continue pouring until the glass is full.
- Enjoy your delicious Black and Tan beer cocktail!
If you don’t pour it slowly, you will ruin the layered effect, so take your time.
Emerald Cocktail

Ireland is often called the “Emerald Isle” due to the vast greenery throughout the island.
This cocktail’s deep green tone pays homage to the green of Ireland.

- Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a lime twist.
- Enjoy!
Recommended whiskey: Powers Gold Label
Old Fashioned

My favorite Old Fashioneds are made using Scotch smoky whisky, as the peat makes this cocktail quite interesting.
Fortunately, the Irish have a whiskey with a Scotch-like flavor profile that will also work.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Irish whiskey
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Orange peel
- Ice
- Club soda (optional)
Preparation method:
- In a mixing glass, add sugar and bitters.
- Add a splash of water and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the Irish whiskey and a large ice cube to the mixing glass.
- Stir until well chilled, for about 20-30 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice.
- Squeeze the orange peel over the glass to release the oils, and add it to the drink.
- Optionally, top off with a splash of club soda for some fizz.
- Enjoy your delicious Irish Old Fashioned!
Use the Angostura Bitters with extreme care, as it’s overly… bitter!
Recommended whiskey: Connemara Peated
