  • Glenmorangie is aged for 10 years in American oak barrels that previously stored bourbon whiskey. These barrels are only used twice.

  • Glenmorangie’s stills are equipped with small boiler pots, this increases the exposure of the spirit to the copper. They claim that this method preserves better the flavor of the malt.
  • The stills are nearly seventeen feet tall (the tallest of any Scottish distillery) this smoothens the flavor by removing any rough edges.

These malts are very similar making hard to tell a winner

  • Both whiskies are completely inoffensive making a great choice for those who want to get baptized into single malt Scotch without breaking the bank.
  • Glenmorangie and Glenfiddich are sweet easy drinkers, free of smoke, peat, or any complicated note making them a solid choice for new consumers.

Personally, I’d stay with the Glenmorangie as I prefer the vanilla note over the pear note the Glenfiddich offers but these whiskeys are perfectly interchangeable.
