On the palate, Blanton’s offers traditional bourbon flavors: butterscotch, vanilla and rye spice only than richer and creamier as it is full-bodied.
Blanton’s Single Barrel (Alternatives) is remarkably smooth with the right amount of sweetness making a super easy yet deep and interesting pour.
The finish is long, sweet and pleasantly warm with a bit of NyQuil on the tail but is not a deal-breaker.
Blanton’s is worth the hype, this is a super smooth and incredibly balanced bourbon with a nice buttery body and the right dose of heat making an entirely satisfying sipper.
Best way of drinking the Blanton’s is neat, if you want it chilled add a large ice ball or use a set of whiskey stones as you don’t want to water it down.

The nose is quite smooth, with notes of vanilla and honey and a touch of cherry.
On the palate, Jefferson’s feels slightly viscous almost velvety. Taste is smooth, with a good balance between fruity and spicy notes, followed by toasty oak. There is a bit of heat to it but nothing terrible.
The finish has a decent length, to some degree warm, with a kick of spiciness and oak, but stays fairly smooth.
Adding water tunes down the heat and the rye spice making it more fruity while bringing a light roasted peanuts note.
Overall, Jefferson’s Reserve is nice and well rounded. Is not mind blowing or earth shattering but it gets the job done delivering an enjoyable bourbon.
There is bit of warmth to it but very manageable and can easily be tamed with a dash of water.

Blanton’s is supremely good
- Jefferson’s might look like a bargain next to the Blanton’s but it is quite similar in taste to the Woodford Reserve which is substantially cheaper.
- Blanton’s is quite good and the best bourbon for the normal wallet.
- This bourbon is perfectly balanced, with the right amount of heat providing a smooth and tasty experience from nose to finish.
