The nose brings the traditional Jack Daniel’s banana note, along a strong hint of maple syrup, lemon and a bit of alcohol, but nothing extreme.

On the palate, you get sweet honey and banana up-front, followed by a bit of oak char. There is subtle peppermint note to it which adds depth making it surprisingly interesting.

The finish is short-lived, mostly sweet, yet well balanced against a slight bitter note from the oak char, with mint and spice coming late.

Jack Daniel’s Honey is a pleasant surprise as I was expecting a cloying experience. Is not overly sweet and it has some interesting tasting notes that caught me by surprise.

It has no warmth or harsh notes making it a very easy drinker, thus you can drink it neat or rocks. You can also drink it in cocktails such as Lemonade or Ice Tea where it becomes quite enjoyable.

There are a few facts worth knowing about Jack Daniel’s Honey:

  • Bottled at 70 proof.
  • This is a blend of the traditional Jack Daniel’s No.7 and a honey liqueur of their own making.
  • Jack Daniel’s is the best-selling American Whiskey brand across the globe and the most famous Tennessee Whiskey (not a bourbon).
  • This brand is owned by Brown-Forman, headquartered in Louisville, KY, and also holds bourbon brands such as Old Forester and Woodford.

Jim Beam Honey

NoseHoney, vanilla, vinegar
PalateHoney, cherry, cinnamon, oak
FinishShort, cherry, vanilla
Alcohol content70 proof (35% ABV)
How to drinkCocktails
Similar toEvan Williams Honey

The nose brings honey, along vanilla and a slight vinegar note that seems out of place.

On the palate, you get honey up-front, with a cherry cough syrup note, along a drizzle of cinnamon and some oak spice.

The finish is short, with no warmth, with more cough syrup to it and a bit of vanilla.

Jim Beam claims that this pour is made using real honey and natural flavors, but it does not come across as a legit thing.

The honey note tastes cheap and artificial, while the cough syrup note is simply off-putting.

Definitely not a sipper but it becomes acceptable in cocktails, make a Hot Toddy with the Jim Beam Honey when feeling under the weather and call it a day.

There are a few facts worth knowing about the Jim Beam Honey:

  • Bottled at 70 proof.
  • This pour uses the traditional Jim Beam White Label as its base and blends it with “real honey” according to Jim Beam.

Jack Daniel’s Honey and Jim Beam Honey are flavored whiskeys

These are not whiskeys but flavored whiskeys. They blend the traditional Jack 7 and Jim Beam respectively with honey to create these releases.

  • Jack Honey is surprisingly good and well balanced. Is not the cloying experience I was expecting as honey is just a tasting note and not the main driver.
  • It also tastes somewhat legit making a nice easy sipper well worth having at home when having guests fond of sweet and easy drams.
  • It also makes a good mixer to make smooth tasting cocktails.
