The nose brings a note of Reese’s Peanut Butter candy with just a whiff of ethanol that fades away.

On the palate, Ram’s Point brings peanut butter flavor at first, along chemical caramel and vanilla hints, with a faint rubber note that slowly takes over overwhelming other flavors.

The finish is short and somewhat warm, with caramel and peanut, along a bitter note.

Ram’s Point is rich in peanut butter on the nose and palate, but it also hits with rubber and a bitter finish making a bad sip.

Drowned in Coke becomes bearable as Cola hides its weird notes but this is something I recommend avoiding as there are better peanut butter whiskeys at the same price range.

Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey

NoseCaramel, vanilla, peanut butter
PalateCorn syrup, caramel, peanut butter
FinishCaramel, peanut butter
Alcohol content70 proof (35% ABV)
How to drinkRocks
Similar toSkatterbrain, P’Nutty, Bird Dog

The nose hits with caramel at first, followed by hints of vanilla and peanut butter.

On the palate, the Sheep Dog feels thin lacking in body. The first sip is overly sweet, with a very high corn syrup note, followed by caramel and just a bit of peanut butter flavor.

The finish is short, with more sweetness to it and a whiff of peanut butter.

Sheep Dog is a little too sweet for my taste as it becomes cloying after a few sips.

It’s rich in corn syrup and caramel flavors but lacks the promised peanut flavored note.

This is something I don’t recommend drinking neat or rocks unless you are fond of sweet-bombs, but can work in some peanut butter whiskey cocktails.

What do Ram’s Point and Sheep Dog have in common?

Both are crafted by the Sazerac Company

Both the Ram’s Point and Sheep Dog, along the P’Nutty, are crafted by the Sazerac Company (Buffalo Trace) in an attempt to capture the peanut butter whiskey segment lead by Skrewball which was the first to hit the market.

  • Ram´s Point has more of the advertised peanut butter note than Sheep Dog making the better choice for those who want a taste of it.
  • Unfortunately, both whiskeys are plagued with odd chemical tasting notes and artificial flavors.
  • Sazerac, who produces these two, also crafts the P’Nutty which is more better as it drinks like a proper whiskey with a touch of peanut butter and something I recommend looking at.
