The nose hits you with with rye spice at first, followed by hints of ripe fruit and vanilla. A floral nose and quite pleasant.

On the palate, TINCUP offers a flavor of sweet corn providing initial sweetness, that moves into gentle rye spice, baked apple, black pepper and a touch of ginger.

The finish has a decent length, neither short nor long but satisfying, with a bit of pleasant warmth to it, leaving an aftertaste of baked apple and baking spice.

Adding water releases a tad of caramel making it sweeter.

TINCUP (Review) has a decent amount of complexity making a good mid-level whiskey that works well both in cocktails and by itself. A great starting point if you want to get into bourbons high in rye before tackling rye whiskey.

Yet to try it in an Old Fashioned but the spicy notes promise to deliver a tasty cocktail.

The bottle comes with a miniature tin cup on top that can be used as a shooter making a nice little token.

The nose provides a blast of rye spice at first, followed by hints of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.

On the palate, the Bulleit Bourbon has a good texture. Flavor feels spicy on the first sip product of the high rye presence in the mash, but as you let it develop it becomes rich in dried fruit and tasty nutty notes.

There is some warmth on the finish yet pleasant, rich in spice, oak, with some sweet notes coming late to the party.

Bulleit is well rounded, sweet on the palate, with a strong spicy finish due to the large portion of rye used in the mash bill.

Spicier than the typical bourbon but smoother than a rye whiskey, making it a good option for those who want rye spice in moderation.

Bulleit Bourbon (Substitutes) makes a good sipper as you can drink it either neat or rocks and also mixes nicely in an Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour as rye makes cocktails more satisfying.
